REVIEW: Garnier Olia permanant hair colour

It was time for me to do a root touch up as I've been dying my hair for many years now, 8 years to be exact! I've stuck to having some sort of brown shade for about 5 years, with the odd bleaching it ginger and attempting to go back to my natural hair colour here and there inbetween.

I picked up the new Garnier Olia dye pack as I saw it has no ammonia, and it's oil powered! My choice of colour is always a really light frosty/ashy/pearly blonde as this is the best way for people with naturally dark hair to achieve a lighter brown shade of dyed hair... It's notorious for us to end up with ginger tints everytime we dye our hair though. So I always expect it now.

I found the shape of the bottle slighter harder to grip compared to previous designs which is the standard cylinder shape. The applicator tip is also different to what I usually use which comes with a comb applicator, or foams and masks. All that said, it wasn't that bad, still did the job and all.

The smell of the formula is much better than others with a quite potent pang to it! I think that's the ammonia smell?

The way I apply hair dye when it's like this is a squirt a line across the roots and use a plastic tooth comb to distribute it through.

At the end my hair came out like this:

It came out pretty orange! It's not as orange anymore after a couple of washes and me trying out a new shampoo (for blondes)... I think it isn't the right chose of shampoo that I chose.. but i'll talk about that in another post :D

Final verdict is that I think this is one of the better hair dyes I have used! It isn't drying and does what I expect it to, the formula is brilliant too.

I won't say the best because my actual desired hair colour isn't achievable without having to bleach/lighten and tone it. Maybe I'll do it some day!

REVIEW: SD Hair 7 Day Pack

I used the SD Hair 7 Day pack before my graduation day, as of course I want my hair to be super nice and healthy looking!! (Well at least I'll try ahaha)

I must admit that I got slightly confused of how to pull off the sticky back to tape it in place [not pictured as it was moist and I was standing in the middle of my room panicking holding it] , when I tried to pull it off it peeled off put the paper was still stuck onto it, as in it ripped in half. During this process it dropped off my head as well so I had to put all my hair back in again. After figuring that all out, it wasn't hard to use after haha!

Instructions:
  • Dry excess water after washing hair with a towel.
  • (My own extra step) It didn't say to do this, but I brushed through my hair with a tangle teaser to get rid of any tangles and make sure its all smooth with no knots, to help provide an even distribution of the product.
  • Tilt your head upside down and put all your hair into the mask and secure into place.
  • Gently massage the mask and leave on for 5-15 minutes depending on how much treatment you want for your hair. (I'd go for the full 15 minutes!)
  • Remove mask and rinse hair with warm water
  • Dry and style as usual.
Here's a tip, when I first removed the mask from the packing, it was folded up. You might want to gently rub the mask in your hands before using it, to help the product inside evenly distribute allowing a more full coverage of the whole head.

Verdict
I actually really liked the results of this hair mask! It left my hair noticeably softer, shinier and moisturised. Usually after blowdrying my hair, the ends of my hair would be really dry and brittle (due to me dying my hair all the time! So this was amazing and made my hair look and feel healthy.

This product works for me and it's definitely what my hair needs! Will use this hair mask again as it is easy to use (yes, even after my initial struggle)

I got mine from Fafa Beauty. Use my code "ruixrai5off" for a 5% discount on your purchases!

Hair up-date

Cut my hair today! My bang was outgrown and the way it looked got on my nerves so I decided it was time to cut it.
At the moment I am currently trying to grow my hair long again, but it is taking ages >_< my hair grows so slowly... Plus as you can see in the video, my hair is so DEAD (the ends... the brown/orange parts) So dry! I don't want short hair though so i'm not cutting it off. I'll just eventually cut it off as my hair grows out *sigh*

Hair time-line for this year!

Out of all the 6 six years i've been dying my hair various shades of brown, with the random purples, pinks and reds in the early stages... this year i've dyed it the most frequently.

I put together a time-line of photos of my hair starting from late December onwards to this present day, check it out.

Once I dyed my hair back to black, I said to myself that I wouldn't dye my hair anymore, give my hair a break. However, the jet black faded and as you can see, my current hair is natural black ontop, and the ends are brown, so I have gradient hair...
Whilst I was putting together the hair timeline, my urge to dye my hair grew stronger. Shall I go back to orange hair? Dye it some shade of brown again?
I am bored of my hair now, and I feel like doing something to it. Not cut it because I am currently trying to grow it out.

Hair Accessories

I think I buy waaaay too many hair accessories, for a person that rarely wears any!! I just can't help myself.

Here is a photo of all my alice bands / headbands lol:

The breakdown

These 3 are in the "Anime expo/Dress up" category. As you can see, they are pretty over the top and not really suitable for everyday wear haha.

Where I got these
The furry ears - I made them
The cat ears - Claires
The big bow - DIY, I took the bow off from an old top of mine and just attached it to a plain black alice band.

Now these alice bands all have something attached to the side of it, which I consider to be more wearable everyday. However, I've grown out of the whole wearing Hello Kitty and bows on my head for now (It makes me look like a child!) I'm trying to look my age at least... aha xD

Where I got these
Starting from the top
Denim blue alice band with star detail - Claires
Blue bow alice band - Vietnam
Yellow Hello Kitty double alice band - Vietnam
Pink bow polka dot alice band - Claires
Black alice band with black&white bow detail - Claires
Cream white bow alice band - Primark
Green (It looks black in the photo for some reason :/) bow alice band - Primark
Pink Hello Kitty double alice band - Vietnam

Just your average plain coloured alice bands, not going to bother saying where I got these because you can pretty much get them anywhere!

My headbands. I wear these the most out all of the above, except for the blue one, I use that to keep my hair out of my face during my skincare routines. The wrap-around band has been used a few times since I got it about a month or so ago? The plaited double band was used when I had brown / orange hair, it stood out more on lighter coloured hair, I don't wear it any more since I dyed my hair black again (although my hair is gradient black to brown atm lol). Worn the black flower out 2 times only, I think it's too much tbh haha.
The feather ones I actually got today! I've never really been a fan of the whole feather thing... but something just drew me to it today (impulse buy) and I actually quite like them :) I'll be wearing these when I go out (THAT'S IF MY MUM LETS ME OUT!).

Where I got these
Wrap-around band - Primark
Blue band - New Look
Both feather bands - Primark
Black plaited double band - Claires
Black flower band - Claires

Now for my hair clips:

Erm, I'm not going to say where I got these, because they are pretty average? But if you want to know then just ask me.

And finally, my hairbands:

That's it for this post! Thanks for reading :)

Black Hair

Hello. Haven't really done a proper post in a while now... I barely touch my laptop any more, exams are nearing FML.

So, what's been happening?
Biggest change is probably me dying my hair black, since i've had it brown for a long time now.

Before:

After:

... Not really the same angle but that will do for now!

And this is what my hair would like if it were blown by the wind in the opposite direction of my current hairline:

Also I prefer tying/clipping my hair up now rather than let it hang loose~~ :)

Giving my hair a break now since I don't have to keep colouring roots :D
