Eyeliner collection!

Hello everyone!

I'm going to be sharing my current eyeliner collection so far.

Here is all I currently have

I'll start off with the E.L.F eyeliners.

The shimmer eyeliners look really pretty, the other two are just quite plain and normal. I don't use these at all because they smudge really easily! Not good.

It's a shame really since I really do like the shimmer liners, but hey, what can I expect from a budget makeup brand hmm?

Will definitely not purchase these again. I can't deal with smudging makeup...

Kohl pencil by BarryM in shade 18

 

I really don't like this pencil. I've actually had this for MANY years now... I have no idea how old it is. I'm not sure if it dried up because it's really old, but its really hard to apply and it's scratchy. I had to draw over and over to get it to show up like this on my arm, and it made the area sore from all the scratching...

Also because it is a purple eyeliner which is a colour I don't opt to line my eyes with on a daily basis. AND, it smudges too.

Onto the Rimmel liners.

 I use the Exaggerate waterproof liner currently to line my water line as i find this soft and easy to apply without having to keep scratching/scraping it on my waterline. It is a retractable pencil where you just twist the top to let the product come out, it also comes with a spongy smudger on the other end of the pencil to help create a smokey eye look, and a sharpener if you pull the sponge end of the pencil out.

Both pencils also smudge. Which is why I only use to line my waterline.

It was actually hard for me to focus on this swatch because it was quite faint.

Then when I did a smudge test it almost nearly disappeared.

I bought this years ago to do the whole 'highlight the inner corner of your eyes to brighten and widen them' but when I did it on myself, I didn't like it at all. I'll maybe use this for occasions such as Halloween.


Maybelline Gel liner

I think my gel liner is getting a bit dry now hence why the application isn't as smooth as it used to be. I used to use this gel liner a lot because it would stay put on my eyelids.

It does smudge so you have to be careful, which is why I stopped using it and drifted onto liquid liners!

Liquid liners are currently my favourite right now, I'm always reaching for them. The one i'm using on a regular basis right now is the Make Up For Ever Aqua Liner in shade 15. I forgot the name of the shade... I originally wanted a black colour but they had sold out so I went for the next darkest shade which was this shimmery grey one. Quite happy with it!

As you can see above, only the Rimmel liner smudges, the others do not budge one bit!

I prefer the 'pot' style liners such as the Make up for ever and rimmel liquid liners, as the applicator will always have an even coat of product on it. As for the Eyeko liners, they are a felt tip applicator, and my eye do one has slightly dried out so when I attempt to draw a cat eye, it comes out really rough and uneven, rather than the straight sharp line I am trying to achieve. I find the 'pot' liners much easier to achieve a straight sharp line. Though I must say, I really did like the Eyeko liners when I first got it them (before they started to dry up). I store the Eyeko ones upside down (tip down) to help keep the product near the tip to keep it moist and ready for use, but it's still quite rough.

All in all, liquid liners are my go to right now!

Review: Eyeko

I've known of Eyeko since I was in secondary school, and my first product purchase of theirs was a beauty cream they used to sell, but is now discontinued. Ever since then, they have gotten bigger and better, and now only focus on eye makeup, specifically, eyeliners and mascaras.

A couple of months ago I was in need of a new mascara, so I decided to opt for the Lengthening Skinny Brush Mascara, as it claims to make your lashes appear long and tall. Not to mention all the hype and that it was an award winning mascara. 

It is jet black, and is water-resistant, and the tube it comes in is squeezy, like a lipgloss tube, which makes it much more easier to make sure you get every last bit of the formula on the brush. An 'eye shield' is also provided with each mascara.

Then for my Birthday in December, my friend gifted me with more Eyeko products to add to my collection!
I received the Alexa Chung for Eyeko Eye Do Mascara and Eyeliner, photos shown below.

My thoughts:

I naturally have very short eyelashes.. so sad!! Here is a photo showing my natural lashes, I've curled them here with my Shu Uemura lash curlers.

Here is a look at the mascara wands:

After applying both mascaras, I found that both gave a very natural looking effect, although I only applied one layer here.

The Skinny brush made my lashes lose its curl, but the Eye Do managed to hold it, for a while. In the end both eyes lost their curls.

Here are my lashes with a second coating:

As you can see, my lashes have dropped down even more.

Both products coat my lashes evenly with no clumping as you can see here, and they do also lengthen my lashes! Although I find that the Eye Do mascara gives me a more natural look rather than the Skinny brush as the Skinny brush makes my lashes look slightly spidery... you can't see it in the photos but I can see it when I look at myself in the mirror!

I find that I prefer using the Skinny brush on my lower lashes as they catch them easier than the Eye Do brush.

In the end, both products are okay for me, but they are not my holy grail mascaras. My search will continue.
Both are suitable for everyday wear. The majority of the time though, I end up wearing false lashes on top, so you can't really see the mascara anyway!


When removing the mascara, make sure you have a good eye makeup remover! I found that when I used Simple eye makeup remover, it was quite stubborn and some lashes would come off when trying to remove it! I now use Lancome Bi-Facial eye makeup remover, OR The Face Shop Rice Water Bright eye makeup remover. These two work perfectly in removing my eye makeup without rubbing too hard and making my lashes fall out.

Now onto the last product, the Eye Do eyeliner.

It is a liquid eyeliner with a pointed felt tip applicator, long pen so it is easy to hold and draw a perfect line across the upper eyelid.

It draws a nice neat thin line, which is perfect. I use this all the time as I love it so much!

I always wing out my eyeliner as shown above, and with the Eye Do pen, it is just the perfect eyeliner, just look at how clean and polished it looks!

Final Verdict

The Eyeko Skinny brush retails for £15, available online on their website and also sold in Selfridges (which is where I purchased mine). Quite a pricey mascara, but I can't compare it to drug store branded mascaras as I've only started using mascara on the daily since last summer. My previous mascaras were by Lancome and Clinique.

I give the Eyeko Skinny Brush mascara a rating of ★★★☆☆

The Eye Do mascara retails for £20, which is even more pricey than the best selling Skinny Brush.

I also give the Eye Do mascara a ★★★☆☆

Finally, the Eye Do eyeliner, retails for £15. As I said before I am in love with this eyeliner so I give it a rating of ★★★★★

In the end, the mascaras are average to me as they do not hold my lash curls. But they do make my lashes longer. 

What's in my makeup bag: For the Airport

Hello! Some of you already know that I'm heading off to Vietnam this summer for my holiday :D I've already started packing, and my struggle hit when I had to decide what makeup to keep on me and which should go in luggage lol. Plus the whole airport restrictions on stuff you can bring on the plane... in the end, I decided on these items!

Starting from the left going clockwise:

The first product is Etude House BB Magic Pact in No.1 Light Beige. Just to powder my face if I need to whilst traveling.

Second product is Lancôme Color Design Sensational Effects Eye Shadow. I love this palette because it features 3 shimmery colours, 2 matte, and 2 metallic. The shades are neutral which is what I currently like as I don't want to wear anything so bold and bright at the moment.

Third product is Giorgio Armani Spring Collection 2012 Sheer Blush. I haven't used this blusher yet, it looks quite light in colour so would probably give me natural blush which is perfect! It's a very light peachy shade.

A pack of e.l.f Rejuvenating Oil Blotting Sheets to get rid of excess oil build up on the face before powdering.

L'Oréal Lumi Magique Stylo Touche De Lumiere in Light which is a concealer, if I need to touch up from lack of sleep on the plane and have massive dark circles or something!

Rimmel Soft Kohl Eyeliner Pencil in 061 Jet Black. Pencil always rubs off and fades... I usually use gel liner but pencil will suffice for one day of travel. It's not as dark as gel, but I don't need much for the airport anyway.

And lastly, Rimmel Lipstick in 250 Birthday Suit. For a bit of natural colour.

I forgot to put lip balm in with the photo! I'll have Carmex and Vaseline with me though 

Concealers

I naturally have dark circles for some reason (i do get enough sleep!!) and I have NOT yet found a concealer that covers them up completely.

My first ever concealer I used was Rimmel: Hide the Blemish Concealer in Ivory~

Personally, I found this difficult to blend out smoothly, it always left like bumps and dry patches under my eyes. Dislike. Never again. It doesn't suite my skin type, which is combination if you didn't know already.

The next concealer I jumped to was Revlon Colourstay Under Eye Concealer in Light~

This is over priced for how much they give you! Look at the amount, and for £7.99. I finished mine really quickly. I found this one better than the Rimmel one, because it was a liquid and was easier to work with. Coverage of this concealer was one of the best out of the ones i've tried already... but i'm still scouting out for the perfect one so I wil not be going back to this one just yet. This one is a twist pump sponge applicator, which I liked (i like the clicky noise of it hahaha)

The next one i jumped to is Rimmel Concealer Wake Me Up True Ivory.

This is the current one i'm using at the moment. It's a liquid formula and application is done so with the wand. They give you a lot more than what Revlon gives! Which is a plus. I find that this product is great for my face, I just cover blemishes here and there, my nose and red areas (sometime my whole face cause why not) but it still doesn't cover my dark circles!! Like I can see them still there ):

Which resulted in me purchasing another one which is L'Oreal Lumi Magique Touch of Light Highlighting Pen

I tried this today because I noticed my dark circles was darker than usual... and guess what? IT DIDN'T WORK PROPERLY. Grrrr. The application of this is a twisty into a brush which is new for me, though I find it unhygenic (i'll clean the brush though). A good thing about this one is that it applies smoothly and leaves no bumps and patches.

I have to finish my concealers since I bought them and it's a waste. I'll just have to live with dark circles on show till my next search T_____T 

Eyes

My friend Wing bought me a pair of circle lenses; Geo Nudy brown for my birthday:

My mum says they look make me look fierce, but she says that when I wear any coloured lenses...
I like them, it's a nice colour, very cute.

And just to show my eye make-up:

I've been wearing eye shadow lately, mostly brown neutrals and smoky, then I tried experimenting with colours and I quite like it! I need to get more eye shadow palettes...
This look is just a blue with brown blended in from the sides, and winged eyeliner.

E.L.F. Natural Lash Kit

I've never been a person to wear false lashes (even though I naturally have short lashes) I find them really long and hard to put on. I'm usually always rushing so I don't have time to put them on.

On the last E.L.F 50% off promotion, I decided to get 2 pairs of these lashes. I now have 3 false lashes all together (the third being Eyelure).

Once I received these lashes, I tried them on and trimmed them down to fit (so I don't have to do it later and waste time). Here is are some photos of me with the lashes on:

I like these, they make my eyes pretty, but these took me so long to put on properly... I need more practice... for 75p, it's well worth the money, though you can buy better on ebay? So if you can, just buy from ebay... you get more for your money on there for false lashes haha.

The glue supplied in the box is clear and dries clear. I found it stick pretty well, however when I was taking it off, it kind of hurt a little... I'm not sure if that's normal or not... perhaps it was just because I may have put them on wrong or something? It got stuck to an eyelash (just one) and that hurt. Other than that, all is good!

E.L.F Haul

A few weeks ago, E.L.F did a massive offer (50% of when you spend £30 or more)! I couldn't resist that and just had to do some shopping! I told my cousin about E.L.F the day before as she had never heard about it, then the next day they do this offer?? How lucky are we!

Me and her decided to order together since we'd be at the same office anyway, and also to reach the £30 mark faster. In the end, we went over haha. We added some nail polishes in at the end last minute.

Here is what I got:

Pretty happy with the stuff I got! I am pleased with the brushes (I wish I got another blusher/bronzer and powder brush!! Oh well... next time haha). Though The blending brush is a little... bad? As in quality wise, it isn't as soft as the other brushes =T But I haven't used it yet so I don't know.

I honestly don't know why I got 2 stipple brushes, I don't need them :/ Oh well... aha maybe because I don't use foundation at the moment? Save that for later then...
This is the first bronzer I've gotten, ever. I've wanted to get some for a while but I didn't have brushes for it or anything yet, so this was the opportunity to get it all at once! Pleased with this product too :)

The Complexion perfection is also good, I use that instead of my translucent powder now haha xD

I'm disappointed with the nail polishes, I thought the colours looked nice on the website swatches, but when I put it on, It was disgusting (in my opinion). The teal colours comes out green more than a teal ): and the champagne one is just horrible. I'm not going to buy nail polish online any more, this was my first time as well, never again. It's a hit and miss because sometimes it will look nice in the bottle, but when you put it on it's totally different. Going to stick to my Barry-M and Beauty Base polishes ha.

Is that a lot? I've seen people with much more, but then again, I've seen people with barely any... lol. I don't use all of the products pictured there _^ Some of it is un-opened, some is really old (I like to keep old/expired make-up for art haha)

E.L.F

Package arrived today, at 8:30. I was asleep then all I hear is a loud knocking and banging at the door, then loads of rings on the door bell. Scared the hell out of me. My mum went to open the door thought ( I was too lazy to get up). She put the package on my desk.
I fell asleep again and woke up at 12 something... haha.
Elf makeup yay! The eyeshadow palette came free! With orders over £10 ^^
